Sunghyun Ko, a PhD student, won 1st place in the MS division of the SPE Regional Paper Contest for the Gulf coast/Southwestern region.

Sunghyun’s award-winning paper, titled “An Experimental Study of Enhanced Oil Recovery from Organic-Rich Shale Reservoir Cores by Aqueous Ketone Solution,” highlights his innovative research in petroleum engineering. His journey began with a 2nd place finish at the UT PGE local SPE Paper Contest.

He will now advance to the ATCE ​for the International paper contest this October, with opportunities for publication in OnePetro.
