We are proud to announce that Sunghyun Ko, a PhD student in our group, has been selected as a recipient of the Schechter Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding research and academic achievement.

The Schechter Fellowship honors the legacy of Prof. Robert S. Schechter, who served as Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering from 1975 to 1978 and dedicated 41 years of service to The University of Texas at Austin. Prof. Schechter’s commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and mentorship continues to inspire generations of students within the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering and Center for Subsurface Energy and the Environment.

Sunghyun’s selection for this award includes a $1,500 fellowship to support his ongoing graduate research.
