Biography
Pedro Aum is a Professor in the Department of Engineering at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Brazil, and a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Chemical Engineering and Geophysics. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Science and Engineering, both from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). He has over nine years of industry experience in well drilling and completion, drilling fluids, well stimulation, and sand control. He is an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow. His research focuses on reactive flow in porous media and on fluid–rock characterization using petrophysics and microCT X-ray imaging, integrating experimental techniques with numerical modeling.
Since 2024, Dr. Aum has been collaborating with Professor Ryosuke Okuno on research related to the mineralization process. In 2025, this collaboration resulted in the approval of a Fulbright-funded research project and the receipt of the Jacob Palis Award, supporting joint investigations on mineralization processes in Brazilian outcrop analogs.
