Biography

Hassan Amer is a Ph.D. candidate in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at UT Austin. He obtained his master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU) and a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering at The American University in Cairo (AUC). Since 2021, he has been collaborating with Professor Ryosuke Okuno on the numerical simulation of enhanced oil recovery methods. Hassan’s current research focuses on investigating the interplay between phase behavior and flow in SAGD and SA-SAGD for heavy oil recovery, as well as phase behavior modeling.

He had four internships as a reservoir engineer with different energy companies, such as Kinder Morgan, Hilcorp, Apache Corporation, and SimTech, both in the USA and Egypt.
