Daniel Fuentes Ibarra
Research Area
- Reservoir Simulation
- Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage
Biography
Daniel is a postdoctoral fellow in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. from the Mexican Petroleum Institute and has been collaborating with Professor Ryosuke Okuno since 2024. His research focuses on reservoir numerical simulation, enhanced oil recovery processes, EOS modeling, and carbon capture utilization and storage. His expertise lies in the mathematical modeling of thermal compositional fluid flow within porous media.
Daniel’s professional experience spans both industry and academia. He has worked as a reservoir engineer at Petroleum Rock and Fluids Services and held research positions, including a project internship at the Mexican Petroleum Institute. In academia, he served as a professor at the National Polytechnic Institute, where he taught courses on reservoir numerical simulation and well test analysis. Additionally, he has supervised one M.S. thesis and contributed as a peer reviewer for a scientific journal.
