We are proud to announce that Farhan Jameel, one of our PhD students, recently represented The University of Texas at Austin at the 2026 SPE North America PetroBowl Regional Championship, where his team proudly secured 2nd place among 19 competing universities from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Competing on behalf of the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, Farhan and his teammates faced other SPE Student Chapter teams in a fast-paced quiz competition designed to test both technical and nontechnical knowledge of the oil and gas industry. The PetroBowl is widely recognized as one of the most competitive and prestigious student competitions in petroleum engineering.
The championship took place from February 26-28 during the 2026 North America Student Symposium (NASS), hosted by Louisiana State University.
This year’s winners were:
1st Place – Missouri University of Science and Technology
2nd Place – The University of Texas at Austin
3rd Place – Colorado School of Mines
4th Place – Texas A&M University
This is the third year Farhan has competed in PetroBowl. Prior to joining UT Austin, he also served as PetroBowl captain at KFUPM.
Congratulations to Farhan and the entire the PetroBowl team on this impressive achievement!
