Congratulations to Hassan Amer and Sunghyun Ko for their outstanding achievements in the recent annual Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Local Paper Contest, hosted by the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (UT PGE)!
Hassan and Sunghyun were among the 25 students who delivered 20-minute presentations on their research to a panel of judges from industry and academia.
Hassan won 3rd place in the PhD Division, earning a $250 cash prize for his research titled, “Identification of Enthalpy Injection Thresholds in Butane-Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage”.
On the other hand, Sunghyun won 2nd place in the Master’s Division, earning a $500 cash prize for his research titled, “An Experimental Study of Enhanced Oil Recovery from Organic-Rich Shale Reservoir Cores by Aqueous Ketone Solution”. He will advance to the regional SPE paper contest in April 2025.
